Red or Dead Release Me : First fragrance in the Red or Dead Family!

Red or Dead is a brand ‘ve had an on-off love affair with for years. They do a lot I really like- they have great colours, a stunning array of tights, glasses frames that are slick and stylish and some very cool shoes. The fashion hasn’t always excited me that much though- but the fact they’re going into scent is exciting.

Call Red or Dead Release Me, you can expect a floral scent with a yummy coconut base. Notes include rose and plum on the top with a muskier base of  tuberose, coconut and cedarwood. The bottle is super cute- a little silver birdcage, and I love that it comes in a tin box- perfect for storing jewellery.

The image used in their shoot is stunning as well- and makes me think seriously about going the redhead route. They showed some stills from the shoot on their Facebook page and its nice to see behind the brand.

It will be £25 for 50ml from the 1st September 2011.

MAC Turquatic fragrance a summer scorcher

Somehow the fact that MAC occasionally does limited edition scents has escaped me, but I’m excited about the upcoming  Turquatic fragrance.

The word combo makes me think of turquoise, aqua and excitement, and whilst I have NO idea what turquouse smells like, aqua should be light and breezy, and the MAC brand is bound to make it full of sparks.

The scent is crisp and fresh- they’ve blended mineral water through lotus leaves and added some anemone, orris and blue cedar for sweet light notes- perhaps the faintest hint of musk? Sounds like a nice light scent for summer and I like the bottle- looks like a grown up version of Cool Water- and another excuse to hit MAC up.

Date scheduled for release is August 11th in the USA.

Pantone candles let you colour code scent

Pantone addicts love the cool colour charts and huge array of products that Pantone bring out every year. Pantone have just enetered the beauty arena with scented candles- and I love these! Available in loads of shades, each is a didderent scent- with the twist being that they are named/scented after their shade. No mere purple and red- think Honeysuckle and Purple Twilight.

Get them from 15 Euros and up from Vincon. More coloors on Colette with the whole range (maybe) out later this year. Continue reading

Have your home smell like Disney with their Imagination home fragrance

What does Disney smell of? Bubblegum and smiles and little girls laughter? Puppy dogs and snails and things that shine in the dark? I may be mixing metaphors and nursery rhymes here but Disney have decided to clarify this conundrum for me by launching a home fragrance!

They have decided that Disney is ‘clean, woody and fresh’ (as opposed to the more natural fit of sweet and sticky?). they’ve aclled it Imagination and here’s what it’s made up of;

‘The top notes open with wet leaves, wild mint and crystallised white sap. The middle notes comprise apple skin, a hint of watermelon and green ivy, plus forest flowers and soft pine needles. Finally, the base notes contain smoky vetiver, tree bark, sequoia, cedar, fir balsam and moss.

Get it from the Disney store now for £8 (and they also have candle). I quite like the sound of it, even if it’s a weird fit. Something for Mom or dad maybe? Continue reading

Jared Leto makes a Hugo Boss Difference with Just Different

Jared Leto is the new face of the HUGO Boss Just Different scent. It sounds like a good fit for him, as it’s described as a ‘fresh and unexpected scent designed to inspire men to see things differently, through different perspectives’.

They haven’t told me what it will smell like yet, but I’d guess a mixture of spices with some lighter fresher notes. Hey, I’m just using this as an excuse to ogle Jared Leto, a crush from years ago, remember My So Called Life? Mmm.

If you’re dying to know exactly what he smells like, I did find an eBayer selling an old bottle of <a href=" Continue reading

Karl Lagerfeld wants you to smell bookish

What do you think Karl Lagerfeld smells like? Papery old man powder and a touch of musk? Perhaps Eau de Kate Moss, who he likes to have in his pocket? Well he’s decided the scent du jour is the novel and is creating a book themed perfume. Yes, you read that right.

The scent will be called Paper Passion and will be, ‘sold inside a hardcover book with the pages hollowed out to hold the flacon’. Hmm. It sounds pretty, but It sounds more like a display scent than one I would like to wear.
